Operation

La Revenante is operated principally under her 18th Century schooner sailing rig, supplemented by long sweeps to move her in calm waters. The vessel is nonetheless equipped with an auxiliary diesel that provides for a cruising radius of several hundred miles under power. She is equipped with VHF radio, a GPS/SatNav navigational suite,

24-mile radar, depth sounder, 10-man life raft and PFDs in accordance with USCG/CCG and SOLAS regulations, and carries a longboat equipped with oars and sail rig. The ship is fitted with two or more 2-pounder replica ship’s guns as well as swivel guns, firing blank black powder charges, and also carries a full Flag Locker of 18th Century and modern ensigns, pennants, and signal flags. The schooner is sailed at all times by a core crew and selected volunteers wearing museum-quality replica seamen’s clothing of the 18th Century.

The operations of La Revenante are advised by a Quebec registered non-profit organization known as The Schooner La Revenante Association.
