End of our trip at the Arts Center in Ottawa on the Rideau Canal
Approaching the National Arts Center in Ottawa, where family were waiting at the end of our trip.

A bit of a side story here on how I was able to get my job back at the museum after 4 years in New Zealand. Every Sunday on our trip we would try and call home to my folks in Ottawa to keep in touch and tell them where we were. At Campbellford Ontario, I called home and Mom told me to get in touch with my old boss at the Museum ASAP as the fellow who took my job back in 1970 had left and they were doing interviews to fill the spot. I called Gerry and he said to get right back for an interview. The next day we arrived at the Trenton Lock station and I asked the station master if we could leave all our stuff there for a couple of days? He said sure and he would watch out for it. We then got on a bus and headed back to Ottawa, did the interview, they told me I would get the job. I asked them if I could start in 2 weeks so we could finish our trip. Ok Harry, but paddle fast.

Now the funny bit, how did Gerry know I was coming back. One day the local talk show host Lowell Greene was doing a bit on young people not doing many adventurous things these days. My Mom was listening, and she called in saying her son and daughter in law were doing this and that. Meantime Gerry and the gang were having lunch playing cribbage and listening to Lowell too. Gerry thought that must be Harry and Paulene. He called every Foster in the book until he got Mom and told her to tell me to call him asap. Lucky me as I stayed working at the Museum in the best job possible for 32 years.
