Paulene dealing with Beaver Dam
One evening when paddling the shoreline of the Bay of Quinte, an elderly gentleman with flowing beard, hailed us from the shore, asking if we were looking for a place to camp. He invited us to camp on his property and after putting up our tent, to come inside for a drink.

He introduced himself and the two ladies who were with him. As we talked, I noticed a few photographs by John de Visser on the walls. That's when things clicked.  I asked him if he was Farley Mowatt's father, as I new that Farley and De Visser were pals and he had introduced himself as Angus Mowatt.

He answered in the affirmative of course, and there ensued some fun conversations. My only great regret is not asking him if I could photgraph him ( I was a tad shy in those days) The classic sailboat behind Paulene and our canoe, is one he built himself, and he with limited use of one arm. A delightful man, full of vigor well into his 80's.
